About Ride Rasmussen Style

Ride Rasmussen Style (RRS) was founded in 2009. We are backcountry riding instructors and American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) avalanche educators, accredited by the American Avalanche Association (A3). We are permitted with the USFS in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and guide in the Island Park, Idaho area. Ride Rasmussen Style is licensed, insured, and bonded. Our instructors and guides hold the highest level of training and are among the most professional personnel in the industry. We require our lead guides to hold a minimum of an AIARE Pro 1 certification, and all other guides must hold at least an AIARE Recreational Level 2. Additionally, all guides are required to maintain current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications, renewed every two years. We also mandate an annual three-day instructor/guide clinic refresher course, covering professionalism, best practices, risk mitigation, backcountry decision-making, and riding skills instruction techniques. Our avalanche instructors have completed the appropriate professional-level instructor courses from AIARE in order to teach AIARE classes. This level of training is not required—or matched—by any other outfitter in the industry. We also offer a proprietary system of snowmobile parts created by Bret Rasmussen to enhance the riding experience. There are many incorrect trends in the snowmobile community that we address daily. By helping guests avoid these common pitfalls, we ensure fewer obstacles to progression and learning. In addition, we maintain a fleet of the most capable snowmobiles on the mountain.

Our founder, Bret Rasmussen—known as “The Professor”—is one of the pioneers of modern snowmobile riding techniques. He was the first to introduce these techniques to the public through snowmobile demonstrations and films such as Schooled and Back to Skool, both available on YouTube. Today, we continue to teach these proven techniques to hundreds of guests each year. We also have a network of authorized Ride Rasmussen Style providers across many western states, which you can explore on our Providers tab.
